Internship for Budding Psychologists

Overview

We offer offline internships to budding psychologists and psychology students who need professional supervision to meet their academic requirements 

Our internship program is developed to bridge the gap between theory and practice and empower psychology majors to confidently enter the profession.

Theoretical basis in understanding the client from Bio-Psycho-Social Perspective

  • Orientation to major psychological theories.
  • Case history taking – Clinical interview and MSE
  • Orientation to psychological disorders in adults and children based on ICD and DSM.
  • Ethical principles in Counselling.
  • Orientation on skills required for a mental health professional.
  • Introduction to psychotherapies, CBT, Third wave therapies
  • Psycho- social approaches,

Assessments and application in practice

  • History and types of psychometric assessments.
  • Observation and supervision on test administration, scoring and interpretation, report writing and feedback for Personality, Anxiety and Depression tools.
  • Need and importance of assessments, rapport building and termination of testing.
  • Research – Definition, objectives, approaches, types, ethics and orientation to research process.
  • Understanding research and using research studies in practice.

Counselling skills training

  • Crisis intervention,
  • Psychological First Aid,
  • Mindfulness,
  • Barefoot Counselling.
  • Psychoeducation.
  • Mindfulness, Relaxation techniques,
  • Preparation and presentation of a Case,
  • The counselling process – Interview, Rapport building, paraphrasing, probing, empathizing, goal setting, challenging, action plan.

    Eligibility

    • Students who have completed minimum 2nd year in B.A/B.Sc. Psychology.
    • For students of M.A/M.Sc. Psychology (Regular/Distance), an UG degree in Psychology is required.
    • Selection will be based on interview

    Duration

    • 1 month – 120 hours – Monday to Friday – 10 AM to 4 PM
